Prologue: Home Isn’t Where the Heart Is

Naurasia

“My prince, my son, you’re home!” cried his mother. She hugged him tightly; Prince Aikka chuckled as he hugged her back.

“It’s a pleasure to see you again mother,” Aikka greeted as he father came out.

“Prince!”

“Yes father?” Aikka said standing tall.

“Welcome home,” he said giving his son a hug. “And you too Caanan,” he added shaking hands with Aikka’s fencing master.

“I’ll be in my room, excuse me,” Prince Aikka said solemnly before heading inside the palace.

Caanan noticed the sad look on his pupil’s face and immediately knew why. He missed the Earth girl.

“Is he alright?” Aikka’s mother asked.

“He’s very well, just needs time to rest. He’ll be fine Queen Aishera,” Caanan reassured.

“Come, we shall plan a welcome party for you. Our people shall be very delighted!” the king bellowed. With that all three headed inside the palace as Gadar was led to his holding pen.

Prince’s Room

“It’s very nice to be home again. I’m sure my people are pleased. Strange, mother and father didn’t mention anything about me not winning the race,” Aikka stated as he sat on his bed. Looking out his window into the back garden he smiled approvingly at the many assortments of flowers.

“If only Molly were here to see this,” the Prince sighed. He suddenly realized he had said her name. He hadn’t said, nor even mentioned her during the ride home. It was as if he had totally forgotten her, if that were possible, he cared for her more than anything in the world. Her smile was as bright as the moon’s glow, her laugh would cheer up any dying flower, she was more beautiful than an angel, and she……was back home, where she belonged. Aikka sighed, he missed her awfully much, and he just wanted to hear her voice again, to make sure she was alright, was that too hard to ask?

“Get a hold of yourself Prince, you’ve got a planet to govern,” he mumbled to himself. There was a sudden knock on his door, “Prince, come, we’ve held a welcoming party for you”

“I’m coming,” the Prince sighed before following his mother out the door and onto the balcony.

“Let’s welcome back, our Prince, Prince Aikka!” his father announced as Aikka was greeted by many of his followers. Tons of them cheered and waved banners, but nothing could fill the empty feeling in his heart. He was home, that was certain, but home wasn’t where his heart was, it was with Molly, back on Earth

Earth

After visiting her mother’s grave Eva and her father headed back home.

“I’ve got to go to some Star Racer Opening; would you like to come Eva?” Don Wei asked.

“Do it’s okay dad, I’ll stay at the Star Racer shed, seems that Troy needs some help with the Whizzing Arrow remodel,” Eva said.

“Okay, I’ll be back later. Love you,” Don Wei said as he dropped of Eva.

“Bye dad”

“Eva, finally here! Craig and Troy need your help with the engine and side reactors!” Phil exclaimed.

“Calm down Phil, I’ve gotta get changed, you don’t expect me to change oil and fix engines in a skirt do you?” Eva asked.

“Sorry, but meet us in B13 when you’re done,” Phil said walking away. Eva went into her own personal room and switched to her black baggy sweatpants that ad a blue stripe on the side. She put on her blue midriff and tied her back into a ponytail. She slipped on her gray tennis shoes and scampered to B13. She immediately saw Craig and Troy trying to clean up spilling oil.

“Craig, get a mop! Troy, you help Craig! I’ll take it from here!” Eva ordered as the two workmen ran to get mops.

“Let’s see, argh those two baboons tampered with the gears. Those idiots, don’t they know that I’m the only one who knows the inside of this thing,” Eva growled. Quickly turning a few gears and placing parts into their normal place she smiled proudly at herself.

“Finally, gosh why do they mess with things like this?” Eva sighed.

She closed the compartment and headed to the cockpit, climbing inside, as the orange dome closed.

“I should tell Koji to change the cover, too many scratches, a nice shade of light blue would do well,” Eva said to herself. As she started up the engine various memories of her Oban days flashed before her eyes. All hr enemies and her friends, the stories from each pilot she encountered. Jordan, he became the new avatar, she missed her good old racing partner, but he was back on Oban, watching her. Like a guardian angel as you could call it. Cetese, Rush, Spirit, Kross, And Prince Aikka…..she couldn’t forget him. She inwardly sighed. She hadn’t really thought about Aikka ever since her trip home, it was like they’d never even met. Of course that would never be possible, letting out a heavy sigh she stepped down the ladder and out of the cockpit. Eva began to think about every single quality about him, and then suddenly shook her head.

“Don’t think like that Eva, he’s on Naurasia now”

“Hey little mouse, I see you’re still taking care of your baby,” said a male voice behind her. Turning around her eyes widened with excitement.

“Rick!” she exclaimed giving her older friend a hug.

“Nice to see you too,” Rick chuckled.

“Why are you here?” Eva questioned.

“Just dropped by to see how my former student was”

“I’m doing fine, and you?”

“You know, the same old boring stuff. Coaching, but still no one’s gotten as good as you”

“Who’s your student this time?” Eva asked wiping off her hands with a rag as she started to tune up another Star Racer.

“Some kid named, Jamie McKormik. Let me tell you, he’s horrible at shifting gears,” Rick said stressing the words.

“Give him a break, he’s a first time flyer,” Eva reassured turning a bolt.

“Where’s the old man?”

“He’s at some Star Racer Opening. Said he’d be back sometime later, probably tonight. After all, he did manage one of the best,” Eva said.

“So where’s Jordan?” Rick asked, hoping to see his gunner friend.

“He’s not here, on Earth anymore. He’s the avatar,” Eva sighed.

“Avatar? So you guys won the race? But I thought it was a wish”

Eva didn’t really want to go into details, so she just said that they were lying, and Jordan gave up his normal life to become the next avatar for 10,000 years.

“I knew he had guts in him”

“Yup, so here I am, fixing up Star Racers, remolding the Whizzing Arrow 4, going to school, and taking up archery”

“Archery?”

“Yeah, guess it’s my new hobby, but it’s nothing compared to Star Racing”

“Didn’t that Aikka dude do archery?”

“Yup”

“So you’re taking it because of him….I see…”

“Rick, come on. Aikka’s in Naurasia and we’re friends. It’s not like that”

“Where are Stan and Koji?” Rick asked.

“Oh, STAN AND KOJI GET YOUR BUTTS OVER HERE RIGHT NOW!!”

In an instant the two mechanics ran towards Eva.

“What’s wrong?”

“Is there an emergency?”

“Nothing’s wrong, it’s just that Rick’s here!”

“Rick?”

“Sup”

“Well I’ll leave you guys to get acquainted. I’ll be up in my personal quarters,” Eva said as the men began to talk.

She flung herself onto the bed, burying her head into the pillow. There was a sudden empty feeling in her heart. She missed racing, she missed Oban, and most importantly, she missed Aikka

Chapter 1: Welcome to Naurasia

One month later

Stern Boarding School

‘Blah, blah, blah, yadda, yadda, yadda……’ Eva thought as she barely listened to the teacher’s rambling about the Periodic Table of Elements.

“Eva Wei, would you mind telling me what the atomic number for Praseodymium is?” her teacher asked.

“The atomic number is 59”

“Actinium?”

“89”

“How about the atomic mass for Thorium?”

“The atomic mass for Thorium is 232.038,” Eva sighed. She had already memorized the Periodic Table of Elements, what else was she to do in her free time on Oban?

“You seem quite knowledgeable about the table, Miss Wee. Would you like to take the test?” her teacher asked smugly.

“Sure, why not?”

“Might I remind you that this test counts for more than half your grade?”

“I know”

“Very well then, take note class. This is someone who smarts off to their more intelligent elder”

The teacher gave Eva the test, the 5 paged test. Eva almost snorted; this thing was half her grade? She was gonna ace it easy. In about 15 minutes Eva sighed, “I’m done” About the whole class turned to her in astonishment, Eva wasn’t known for her brains, or being smart, this was a surprise to everyone.

“Oh really? Well then I should check it right now. That way you can fail easily,” her teacher sneered snatching the test from her hands. She skimmed through the pages, her eyes getting wider and wider with each correctly answered question. Once she had finished looking through the test her eyes were as big as saucers.

“So how’d I do?” Eva asked, although already knowing the answer.

“Perfect score Miss Wei. Congratulations you got an A+,” her teacher grumbled as she passed back her test with a giant red ‘A+’ on the front. Eva smiled proudly at herself, and then smirked at her teacher, who only scowled in reply.

“Attention all students and faculty please head to the front entrance I an orderly fashion, please behave your best, the president is here!” a voice said from the intercom, in a panicky way. Students and teacher rushed to the front entrance it wasn’t that orderly, the students were in a large blob while the teachers, in a state of shock had forgotten to organize their classrooms. Eva was at the front watching the president’s limo pull up as he himself stepped out of the car with three guards surrounding him.

“Is there an Eva Wie here?”

“Oh Mr. President if she’s done anything horrible we give you our utmost apologies,” the principal said bowing.

“Stop the act, Ms. Hikaru. It’s nothing serious. Nice to see you again sir, been a while hasn’t it?” Eva said stepping out of the crowd.

“Yes it has Eva. I trust your boarding school has been well to you. And you’ve gotten plenty of rest since your return?” the president said smiling before shaking her hand.

“Well I aced a test and I’ve been dong fine ever since my return”

“That’s good. We need your help, with something urgent,” he said with his face switching to seriousness.

“What’s wrong?” Eva asked, worried.

“All I can say right now is that it involves possibly the fate of Earth. Your father has already been contacted, he knows all about it,” he said.

“What about school?” Eva asked, not knowing if she’d be away, she didn’t really want to go to school, but he might as well tell them.

“Eva will be taking a long lead of absence, her planet needs her,” the president said to the principal as he and Eva stepped into the limo.

“What’s wrong? Please don’t tell me another race…” Eva sighed as the limo started to move.

“No Eva, it’s nothing like that. It’s just; we’ve received news from our ally planet, Naurasia,” he began. Eva looked at him with panicked eyes; Naurasia had become a friend to Earth, ever since the end of the Great Race.

“What…what’s wrong???” Eva pleaded.

“Well they contacted us and said that the Crogs are planning an attack on them, they need our help. They told us to send the one who one the great race, which is you, am I correct?” he asked.

“Yes, that’s me”

“Well they want you to come to Naurasia, on important business. Since you defeated Kross in race. They said you were the best candidate for the job, and was suggested by the prince”

Eva blushed at the thought of Aikka still remembering her, and also volunteering her for the job of representative of the Earth coalition.

“How long will I be there?” Eva asked.

“It’s hard to say, whenever the Crogs attack I’m guessing, but there isn’t a specific date”

“Okay….”

“But we’ll drop you off and wait for you to pack, the person who shall pick you up will arrive soon,” he stated as Eva steeped out and headed inside to pack. She dug through her drawers and picked out some of her best outfits, knowing she would be in front of royalty she had to look her best. She changed into her blue skirt and white shirt wit ha mini jean jacket, putting on her mother’s goggles and slipping on her gray tennis shoes. She grabbed her bag, which was filled with about 2 weeks worth of clothes, and headed out the door and back into the limo.

“I’m ready,” she said trying to hold in her pants.

“That was quite fast, but never mind that, we should get going,” with those words the limo began to move again.

“Mr. President, if you don’t mind me asking, who called upon you to bring me?” Eva asked.

“Queen Aishera and King Elrion, they said that their son had suggested you take the job, being that you would do best in it”

“Tell me, how much danger is Naurasia in?”

“Grave danger I’m afraid. They heard that if the Crogs prevail in destroying, or rather taking over, Naurasia, that they would move onto Earth. And I know, you and I both don’t want that to happen. That’s why they need your help,” he explained.

“Oh, I see….”

“Here we are, your escort has already arrived. I hope you have a fine trip”

“Please tell my dad that I’m gonna miss his lectures,” she said sarcastically.

Eva grabbed her bag and flung it over her shoulder as she walked towards the, what it seemed like, a Naurasian with their large beetle, much larger than Aikka’s, the boy seemed to be older than Aikka also.

“Good afternoon, I am assuming you are, Molly?” he asked.

“Yes, that’s me,” Eva had forgotten she hadn’t told the Prince about her real name, but that name didn’t phase her one bit, she was used to it.

“Very good, if you would please step onto my beetle,” he said helping her up.

“May I ask what your name is?”

“My name’s Kisheru, I am one of the helpers at the Naurasian palace,” he answered as the beetle’s markings began to glow a bright blue.

“Hold on tight, we’re beginning to teleport. It’s best to hold onto something,” he said. Eva gripped the saddle, she would feel un comfortable with her arms around his waist. In a bright flash they were engulfed my light, two or three seconds passed when they appeared at the Naurasian docks. Eva noticed the crystal blue sea, tranquil markets and villages. For where she was she could see about 2 or 3 waterfalls, her eyes sparkled with excitement.

“Woah,” was all she could say.

“I’d like to welcome you to Naurasia. Here you are our guest, otherwise known as, the Earth Princess,” the boy said bowing before helping her down.

“Thank you”

“I shall leave you here with your escort the palace,” he said.

“Thank you for your kindness, Kisheru,” Eva said bowing to show her gratitude.

“I shall be your guide to the palace Earth Princess,” said a gentle female voice.

“Your people are so kinda here. It’s also very beautiful,” Eva complimented.

“Thank you, we should be going, the King and Queen are awaiting your arrival”

“We should be going”

They began to walk, Eva took in all the beautiful sites, the palace wasn’t very far, it only took them a couple of minutes. They both walked into the main entry way, Eva’s eyes grew wide, everything was simply beautiful, the ceilings were extremely high, there were large open spaces and it was so elegant, yet simple.

“Would you like me to lead you to your living quarters, Princess?”

“Yes please,” Eva responded politely as the alien lead her down a long hall and into a room.

“This is where you’ll be staying, we hope it makes you feel at home”

Eva set her stuff down and scanned the large guestroom, everything was neatly placed, she made a mental note to be on her best behavior, and have her manners when staying here.

“Thank you for being so kind on my trip here,” Eva said.

“You should change into these, you would feel a bit more comfortable in Naurasia wearing them,” she said handing Eva the native clothes for female Naurasians.

“Thank you, again”

“It’s my honor to assist the Earth Princess,” she replied before heading out the door.

“Well I should probably change into these right now,” Eva said to herself.

Going behind the gray changing screen she slipped of her articles of clothing and switched it with the clothes given to her. It was a bit complicated to put the different lavers on, but eventually she figured it out. First she put on the white pants, that to her, looked like parachute pants. Next, she slipped on a long white shirt, embroidered with the mark of Naurasia at the hem, on each side was a slit. She then put on the shirt, taking her goggles off first. The solid white shirt stopped a little below her chest then the veil like material flowed down to her waist. Knowing she was not yet done, Eva sighed. She now needed to put on the arm bands, slowly slipping them on each of her arms, she readjusted them to make sure that from the front you could she the Naurasian emblem. Next, were her shoes, slowly slipping the brown flats on, she laced the ribbons a bit over the bottom of her pants, tying them in a knot in the back. And finally, to complete the look she carefully rested the headdress on, which as she looked into the mirror provided for her, seemed to resemble Aikka’s. She smiled at herself approvingly.

“Come to think of it, I haven’t seen him since I got here,” Eva wondered.

There was a sudden knock at her door, “Earth Princess, the king would like you to meet him in the discussion room now”

Eva could tell it was the same girl that had brought her to her room.

“Coming, it’ll just be moment!” Eva looked in the mirror again, making sure she looked decent for the king and queen. She opened the door to meet the same young face from before.

“I’m ready,” Eva said with a smile, following the girl down the hall and into a large room.

“Before you leave, might I ask your name?” Eva wondered.

“My name is Nora, why is it that you want to know my name?”

“So I can properly thank you”

“You’ll have many more chances to thank me. I’m going to be your personal helper” (Sorry it’s just ‘servant’ sounds to snobby)

“Nora, you are free to leave now,” said the king as he stepped into the room, followed by the queen…and…..Prince Aikka!

“Aikka….”Eva whispered. She suddenly remembered she was in front of royalty, and gracefully curtsied.

“It’s a pleasure to make you acquaintance your highness,” Eva said politely.

“Please sit”

Eva sat in a well crafted chair across from the king, her eyes glanced at each of them, mostly Aikka in general.

The king cleared his throat and began to speak. For a couple of hours they discussed the plans of what to do, how they would defend, and the dire circumstances. Eva tried her best to use her greatest vocabulary. Their discussion was coming to a close.

“As you can see, our planet, and yours, need great assistance,” King Elrion explained.

“I understand completely, there’s no need of worry. I will offer my best efforts,” Eva said.

“I just don’t know if our kingdom can handle another Crog attack. Our people have grown weak with hope,” the King sighed.

“It’s not my character to judge things, but if I may?”

“Continue”

“Your people have not grown weak with hope. They haven’t lost it, they are trying to gain it. They need something to fight for, something to remind them that no matter how rough things can get, there’s always that small beam of hope, that always keeps them believing,” Eva explained, smiling at the queen, who seemed to approve her explanation.

“Thank you, you are dismissed,” the king said. Eva smiled and curtsied once again before leaving.

“What a charming girl, isn’t she the one you were talking about, Aikka?” Aishera asked.

“Um…yes?” Aikka said rubbing the back on his head in embarrassment.

“Never the less, she’s a human. The only reason she was called here was to help. I don’t approve of assistance from earthlings, but your mother insisted I do,” Elrion sighed.

Eva

“If I use anymore big words I think my head will literally explode,” Eva whined. She removed the headdress and replaced it with her mother’s goggles.

“Naurasia has too many politics. If I survive this I swear I will never complain about politics in school ever again”

Eva flung herself onto the bed sighing in relief to lay on something soft.

“If I’m going to stay here for a while, I should put away my stuff,” Eva grabbed her bag and opened the rather large closet. She hung all her clothes on the hangers provided. Her clothes only took up about 1/12 of the space given. Scanning the large closet she noticed something in the corner. Walking over she picked it up and examined it more closely. It was a bow and some arrows, not magical arrows, just normal ones, but they were exquisitely crafted. A devious smirk came upon her face. She found something to release the new found stress on her shoulders.

“It’s time for a little target practice”

Chapter 2: The Truth Can Be a Funny Thing
Naurasian Palace

After aimlessly wandering the palace, Eva finally got the guts to ask Nora if the palace had a shooting range.

“This isn’t right Earth Princess, only males are allowed into the Shooting Range,” Nora urged as she lead Eva to the outdoor shooting range.

“If I’m going to help Naurasia against the Crogs, don’t you think I’m an exception?” Eva asked.

“You are very true, but I do know that the kind you disapprove of this, surely you wouldn’t want to disappoint the king, now would you?”

“I’ll be fine,” Eva reassured.

“Very well, if that is your decision, but take this,” Nora said handing Eva a white scarf with bronze embroidery.

“Why would I need this?”

“It completes the wardrobe, and anyone who’s in contact or lives within the palace walls wears one”
Eva noticed the same type of fabric wrapped around Nora’s neck and figured she was telling the truth.

“Thank you, um….you are dismissed,” Eva said nervously.

As Nora’s figure vanished behind the door she wrapped the scarf around her neck and over her head, like a hood. (You know, the shawl-hood things the women wear in India. I just can’t remember the name) She slung the bag of bows onto her back, readying her arrow. She soon figured out the schematics for this kind of shooting range. Hidden targets would emerge from the greenery she could see. Every once in a while she would hear the creak or scratch of ropes and metal. This area was severely huge, probably to increase one’s aim and mobility. As if an imaginary bell went off in her head she began. Aiming her bow in all directions as she listened closely for the small hints of sound. There. She shot her bow, the sound of hard clay piercing wood could be heard. The score board on her right had shown the number ‘1’. She smirked at herself.

‘Target practice definitely has begun’

She continued with her motions, swiftness, and accurate aim. Eva was actually enjoying herself.

Prince Aikka

A few hours had passed since the discussion and Prince Aikka couldn’t get over the realization of Molly being here, in Naurasia, with him! She looked beautiful in their native clothes, he’d dreamed of her being in them.

‘What are you thinking? You simply can’t think that, especially with Molly’ he said scolding himself.

“My prince, it’s training time. Would you care to join me at the shooting range?” his father asked.

Realizing there was nothing else to do, Aikka agreed. Grabbing his bow he followed his father down the corridor and out the back where their shooting range was held, the prince noticed the swift sounds of feet stepping on grass.

“Father, I believe someone is here,” Aikka said looking to his dad. He gave him a stern nod in reply, he too had noticed.

Eva was quite enjoying herself, she’d used most of her arrows by now. She’d also hit most of the targets. Every now and then glancing to the score board. 65…..66……67…..68……69…..70…..71….. Eva was having so much fun that she didn’t notice the two Naurasians coming in.

“Who’s that?” King Elrion asked. Aikka scanned the being. Whoever they were, they were quite skilled, swift movements and acute accuracy. He looked to the score board, ‘84’ and counting. Looking to his father, his expression seemed, amazed? Aikka then noticed their clothes, those of which the females wore. His eyes widened in realization.

“Molly?” he said a bit rather loudly. The being stopped. Eva knew she was in for it now, she had the urge not to turn around, but she did anyway.

“HOW DARE YOU!!?!?!??!” the king bellowed with anger.

“I’m…..sorry….” Eva mumbled.

“I know you’ve come from a different culture, but dare defy those of our own planet? Young lady didn’t your mother teach you to respect others?” Elrion said narrowing his eyes at her.

Eva’s eyes widened. Her mother, he couldn’t have mentioned her. No, he didn’t.

“No…she didn’t,” Eva hissed.

“Then your mother must be quite ashamed of you right now”

Her teeth were clenched and her hands were waded into fists at her sides, she was fighting the tears that collected in her eyes.

“She didn’t teach me any manners because she...died!” Eva screamed before dropping the bow and running to her room. Aikka glared at his father, he soon realized what he had done. His wife came from the shadows, she had heard the whole conversation.

“Elrion, you may be powerful and mighty, but you treat our guest with the same respect as others treat you, “she scolded.

“I…..I….lost my temper. I guess her being a human, I went a bit over the edge,” he sighed.

Aikka gave no reply, but he was recollecting the sentence Molly had just uttered. Her mother died?

“I’ll go comfort her,” Aikka said hastily before leaving his mother to lecture his father.

Eva

‘You’re just an aide Eva. You should’ve known that, practicing your archery in Naurasia, surely you must’ve at least pondered Nora’s suggestion. Do you really think they would let you into battle? You’re just here to plan things, there’s no reason for you to practice. How silly of you to think they would let a female such as you into the dangers of battle’ a voice in her head said slyly. She reluctantly agreed. But what made her heart sadden was the mention of her mother. She’d finally been able to cope with the loss, when there it was again. Wiping the tears away from her face she inhaled deeply and picked herself up onto her feet. Of course she climbed out the window and onto the roof of the palace. She knew soon that Aikka would be coming to make sure she was alright. And she was right, because there was a knock on her door.

“Molly, are you alright”

She chuckled at her accurate analysis, but she did not answer, but instead heard the door creak open.

“Molly? Are you in here?” she heard him ask. She didn’t reply, for she knew he would discover her soon.

“There you are Molly,” Aikka sighed seeing his friend.

“Hello!” she answered happily as the prince climbed out the window and joined her. He smiled at her face.

“Are you alright?” he asked again.

“Yup! I’m fine!” she said putting on a fake smile.

“Molly, I know something’s troubling you, I can see it in your eyes”

“There’s nothing wrong…” her voice trailed off.

‘No duh there’s something troubling me! But it’s not like I can tell you that when I was 5 my mother died in a Star Racing accident and then my father abandoned me at a boarding school for 10 years. And then on my birthday I ran away from there and went in search of my dad, to only find that he hadn’t even remembered me, so I went under a fake name, Molly. And got a job as a mechanic over there. So my dad was the manager of, well, the Earth Team. Then as everyone was boarding for the ship leaving to Alwas I snuck aboard only to be ignored by the rest of the crew. Then when Rick got injured I had to substitute for him and as I got better and better, our friendship started to grow. And then it hurt me to see you with the Crogs. And then here I am, trying NOT to tell you this but saying inside my head, hoping you won’t hear me’

‘I can hear you’

‘A-Aikka?’

Eva looked at her dear friend, but he wasn’t looking at her, he was looking out towards the city, sunset was upon them now.

‘How…are you here?’

‘You know, in the final race, how I telepathically communicated with you?’

‘Yes’

‘All Naurasians have that ability’

‘Oh. So you heard everything, huh?’

‘Yes, everything’

‘Sorry I kept it from you’

‘No. You did what you thought was best at the moment, I would’ve done the same thing’

‘I am sorry for my father’s ill mannered temper’

‘No, it’s okay. I’m sort of used to it. My dad is the same way’

‘I guess there’s one thing that humans and Naurasians have in common’

Eva couldn’t help but break out in a light chuckle. The prince smiled in return.

“So should I call you Molly or Eva now?” Aikka asked.

“Either one fits me fine. They’ve both become names to me anyway,” Eva replied.

“If it’s fine with you I think I’ll call you Molly”

“No, I don’t mind at all”

“Molly…..”

“Yes prince?”

“I’m pleasured you came”

“T-Thank you. I-I’m happy I came t-too,” Eva said blushing.

“You’re very brave, Molly”

“H-how so?”

“You’ve dealt with much pain, I can sense it. Plus the Great Race, I know it’s put you through a lot. It’s amazing you’re still the Earth Pilot I remember”

“Well nothing can get through me!” Eva said triumphantly.

“I’ve very well noticed that, come. It is supper time, I’m sure my father has his apologies to owe to you”

“I’m really not that hungry”

“Are you sure?”

“Yes, I’m very much sure”

“Very well then, but you should probably come for my father’s apologies. It’s a very rare site”

“Rare site?” Eva asked quirking her brow.

“Yes. My father, king of all Naurasia, hardly apologizes for his mistakes. Though it’s hard to control a kingdom when you don’t admit your wrong doings,” Aikka chuckled.

“Then we should probably get going,” Eva said stepping closer to the end of the roof.

“Molly! What are you doing?!” Aikka asked in a panic.

“Jumping of course!”

“But shouldn’t we climb through the window?”

“That’s the boring way! Jumping is lots more fun! Would you join me?”

Aikka wasn’t sure about her idea, he knew perfectly well that this wasn’t a ‘princely’ thing to do.

“Come on Aikka, that is, unless you’re too afraid,” Eva said taunting him.

“Afraid? I prince is never afraid. You’re on Earth Princess,” Aikka said with a smirk, he could never resist a challenge. On the count of three both jumped, Eva held a huge grin of adrenaline as the prince was just a smirk. Both landed hard on their feet. Eva looked up from where they had jumped, she whistled.

“I had no idea it was that tall”

“Come, father is awaiting our presence,” Aikka said grabbing Eva’s hand, causing her to blush.

Dinning Room

“I believe I have just ruined our chances of saving our kingdom,” Elrion said.

“Sir, don’t be so hard on yourself. I’m sure Prince Aikka has taken to the matter,” Canaan assured.

“How are you so positive the Prince has reached her?”

“The prince, how you say, has a way with this Earth girl,” Canaan said smiling. The king furrowed his brow.

“Oh no sir! That wasn’t the intention of my sentence! What I meant was that he and the Earth girl have a deeply linked bond,” Caanan explained.

“Prince, Molly, nice to see you were able to attend,” Aishera said, noticing her son and the human walk in.

“Never would I miss a meal with my family,” Aikka said as he and Eva sat down.

“Of course, Molly came for my father’s apologies,” Aikka answered for Eva.

“Molly, I m deeply sorry for any pain and sorrow I have caused you. I was out of character to lash out at you, I hope you accept my apology”

“There would be no reason for me to deny it, it would be a disgraced to reject an apology as polite and sincere as that,” Eva said, she could swear she saw a tinge of pink on the king’s cheeks.

Aishera giggled, “It seems Molly has a very good way towards flattery. And it works quite well on my husband”

Prince Aikka chuckled to himself, Molly err Eva, did have quite away with flattery. Never had he seen his father blush, in public. Two large doors opened and food instantly flooded the table. Eva’s eyes sparkled with hunger, but she hadn’t planned on staying for dinner.

“I didn’t really plan on staying……”

“Please, stay. It would be a pleasure to dine with the winner of the Great Race,” Elrion said. Eva sat down and began to eat, chewing politely, but of course not in large quantities. The meal progressed rather smoothly, Eva and the king and queen talked about her cultures on Earth. Aishera and Eva discussed her mother, Aikka and Elrion talked about fighting techniques and bow strategies. Which Eva happily contributed to, thoroughly surprising Aikka, Aishera, and Elrion. She explained that while she had been in the boarding school, she had to fend for herself, lookout for herself, and fight for herself. She was an outcast and easily picked on. Then somehow, the conversation slipped into the Great Race.

“Is that how you met Aikka?” Aishera asked.

“Well, I guess you could say that. It was a rather embarrassing confrontation to say the least,” Eva said, blushing a bit.

“Embarrassing?” Aikka asked.

“Of course, you pulled me out of a mob of Krinyx (I totally made that up). Not quite what I would call a formal first meeting,” Eva said, blushing even more.

“Oh yes, I remember that day….” Aikka said chuckling.

“Hey! It’s not funny! It was my first time being on another planet, not like I visited one every year!” Eva retorted.

“Pardon my manners, but it was your reaction”

“Oh no…..please don’t say you remembered that….” Eva sighed.

“I was quite amused actually. No one the nerve to reply to the prince in one such as that,” Aikka chuckled even more.

“It’s not everyday I meet an alien prince who rides a ferociously large bug,” Eva grumbled.

“Aikka, don’t laugh at Molly, it’s quite rude,” Aishera said scolding her son.

“Sorry mother…”

“You should be, considering the fact that since the one month you’ve been hear, you’ve been rambling on about Molly here and her excellent racing skills,” Aishera said smirking as Aikka turned a light shade of red.

“H-h-he what?!” Eva almost shouted.

“Yes, he kept saying that you had excellent racing skills, which utterly surprised him,” Aishera continued, giving a side glance at her son, who was turning redder and redder with every comment. Elrion decided to join in on the embarrassment also.

“Yes, I remember that day where he had said she seemed to be the most beautiful of the humans he’d encountered,” Elrion said, causing Aikka’s orange skin to become even redder, if that were even possible.

“Oh yes! And how her eyes gleamed with confidence!” Aishera added.

“And how her smile could brighten any dark room!”

“Yes, and that her playful spirit would lighten any rain storm!”

“MOOOOOOOOM DAAAAAAAD!!!!” Aikka whined in embarrassment stressing the words. Eva broke out in laughter, while her cheeks turned red. The king and queen also joined in on her chortle. Aikka hung his head, still totally embarrassed out of his wits. Eva still couldn’t stop laughing, no matter how he tried. It was hard not to laugh, the king and queen had made their own son, the prince, embarrassed right in front of his friend. She was laughing so hard she clutched her stomach.

“Molly, are you alright?” Aikka asked noticing her hand on her stomach as she continued to chortle.

“It’s just….your face…it’s…red…redder than the plants on Oban!” she began to break out into another assortment of laughs.

“And they appointed you to the throne,” Aikka sighed burying his head into his hands. Eva’s laughing had soon died down, but unfortunately Elrion’s and Aishera’s didn’t. she put a soft hand to his shoulder.

“Don’t worry about it Aikka. Everyone gets embarrassed, no matter who they are. Plus, parents do that sometimes, but they still care for you,” Eva said gently as Aikka looked up at her.

“But…what they said…”

“I don’t care if it’s true or not. You’re my friend, of course we’re just joking around. Don’t be so uptight. Loosen up a little,” Eva said before excusing herself from the table.

“She’s right son, these humans, how you say, they know when to relax,” Aishera agreed.

“Perhaps you should take a holiday tomorrow, maybe spend some time with Molly. It would do you good,” Elrion added.

“I’m going off to bed. Excuse me. Goodnight mother and father,” Prince Aikka said before lumbering to his bedroom. To his surprise Molly’s room was right across from his, her door was open and she was looking out the window.

“Molly? Why are you not in bed?” he asked slowly walking into her room.

“How can someone sleep with such a beautiful sky above them?” Eva looked at the sky, it was filled with stars, she could make out a few other planets, but what most surprised her was the two moons. One was purple while the other was blue.

“Many have said the Naurasia sky at night is quite dazzling,” Aikka said leaning on the window sill next to her.

“Consider me one of those people,” Eva said with a stifled yawn.

“Perhaps you should go to rest now, Molly”

“But…it’s so wonderful…I don’t feel….tired…” but with that her eyelids closed as he fell asleep onto the prince’s shoulder. Aikka tittered at her fast slumber. He carried her bridal style over to her bed, resting her carefully as he pulled the covers over her slender body.

“Goodnight Earth Princess,” he whispered before softly kissing her on the forehead before exiting the room. As he opened the door to his chamber a quiet voice in his head whispered something.

‘Goodnight Prince Aikka’
